Now in its sixth year, a team of Credit Suisse employees from multiple international offices are gearing up for the latest cycling challenge. From July 22nd – 26th, we are raising vital funds for the Foundation Swiss School for Guide Does for the Blind in Allschwil, Switzerland.
Past events helped us to raise over CHF 250’000 for selected charities and last year, we were able to raise over CHF 35’000; a new record in donations! It is our goal again this year to exceed the excellent result of last year.
To ensure that the entirety of all donations goes to Charity, all cyclists are bearing the costs of transfer and lodging themselves. Credit Suisse supports the event logistically by providing support vehicles, drivers, and mechanical support
Some of you will be aware that I participated in this last year, so to give back from an organizational perspective, I volunteered to be part of this year’s organizing committee. This year I will be the sole representative from IWM COO area.
This year’s event is as much, (if not more!) of a challenge compared with last year. We shall be cycling the length of the Pyrenees from San Sebastian/Donostia on the Atlantic coast to Roses on the Mediterranean sea.
The goal will be to cycle a ~760km route that includes ~16,000 metres of ascent as follows (route mapped out below):
Day 1: 169 km / 3500 m ascent - from San Sebastian/Donostia to Oloron-Saint-Marie
Day 2: 159 km / 4500 m ascent- from Oloron-Saint-Marie to Arreau
Day 3: 139 km / 3400 m ascent - from Arreau to Sort
Day 4: 138 km / 3400 m ascent - from Sort to Puigcerda
Day 5: 159 km / 1800 m ascent - from Puigcerda to Roses
This opportunity to ride with fellow colleagues to raise money for a very worthy charity is amazing. The Foundation Swiss School for Guide Dogs for the blind charity for which we are raising money, enables retired blind people a replacement dog where they are not eligible for coverage through Federal Disability Insurance. Your generous contributions are very welcome. :)
Please support me by donating to this charity.
